Community Participation
Counties Served with this program include: Anderson, Campbell, Knox, Morgan, Roane and ScottCommunity Integration and Community Participation services coordinate and/or provide support for active participation in valued integrated community opportunities. These opportunities build on the person’s interests, preferences, gifts, and strengths while supporting their goals for community involvement.
People participate in one or more integrated community settings and in activities with people who do not have disabilities and who are not paid or unpaid caregivers. These Community Integration and Community Participation services are designed to promote maximum participation in an integrated community life while engaging in meaningful relationships, friendships and social networks with people who do not have disabilities and who share similar interests and goals for community involvement and participation.
These services assist people with active and positive participation in a broad range of integrated community settings encouraging them to engage with people who do not have disabilities and who are not paid or unpaid caregivers. People will enjoy:
A variety of valued, age-appropriate social roles and relationships
Building a support system
Increased independence
Meaningful community integration and inclusion
Build connections within his/her local community
Community Participation and Community Integration Support services traditionally take place Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Transportation to and from the program is coordinated by designated staff from Emory Valley Center.
