Supported Employment is a WIN/WIN Relationship for the Employer and the Employee!
Does your organization need to hire a dependable employee?
Emory Valley Center, a non-profit agency assisting people with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities throughout Anderson, Morgan and Knox Counties, has provided employment services since 1975 to the people we support. It has been our experience that people with disabilities WANT to work, earn money and increase their independence. Statistics show that when given the opportunity, they are rarely absent and strive harder to meet employer standards. These potential employees VALUE their jobs immensely. Working builds self-esteem and when everyone feels good about themselves, it generally shows through in a positive and productive work performance.
When you participate as a Supported Employer:
You Will Gain
A dependable, hard worker; a loyal employee with low absenteeism; a quality employee striving to excel who values their job; and a job coach for the person you hire
You Will Provide
The opportunity for a person who WANTS to work while building a person’s sense of accomplishment and increasing their self-worth
Some of Your Benefits
We can save you search time and money while finding you the right person for the job; employee training, supervision and ongoing support as required, at no cost to you; all job duties will be performed in accordance with your worksite and quality standards; a reduced turnover and absenteeism rate; and a more diverse workforce
How This Program Works
Our Supported Employment provides a trained job coach to assist with on-the-job training, supervise the individual as they learn their new job duties, and help them with complex work tasks. The goal is to gradually decrease the job coach assistance and allow the person to work with minimal supervision. Our Supported Employment staff continually visit the worksite to assure the employer is satisfied with the work performed by the employee and assist in resolving an concerns.
No Additional Costs to You
Emory Valley Center covers the cost of the job coach. If we find that the person you employ needs adaptive equipment, uniforms or other items to help them perform their job, we will supply them. Let us help staff your employment needs! Tax incentives could also be available…many times we can help employers apply for tax credits if the person hired has never been employed and is successful on their job in accordance with the guidelines established by the federal government. *The Work Opportunity Tax Credit The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a Federal tax credit incentive that the U.S. Government provides to private-sector businesses for hiring individuals from nine target groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment. The main objective of this program is to enable the targeted employees to gradually move from economic dependency into self-sufficiency as they earn a steady income and become contributing taxpayers, while the participating employers are compensated by being able to reduce their federal income tax liability. WOTC joins other workforce programs that help incentivize workplace diversity and facilitate access to good jobs for American workers.
