Volunteer Your TimeWe recognize the value each volunteer brings to Emory Valley Center
Emory Valley Center loves for volunteers to assist with providing supports and services to people supported. We recognize the value each volunteer brings to our center and to the lives of the people supported. Properly trained and skilled volunteers can directly assist our people supported with activities of daily living, as well as with educational and vocational tasks under the supervision of our trained staff. Volunteers can also provide approved administrative support.
In keeping with our commitment to provide high quality and safety to people supported, we have established the guidelines and procedures for volunteer service that are set out below. All employees, as well as the volunteers themselves, must follow these. Volunteers must be eighteen years of age or older.
Before allowing a volunteer to begin service, we will obtain any required background check and obtain a negative TB skin test. We will also provide orientation and training designed to familiarize the volunteer with the general setting or program, and with the people supported involved, including Training Specific to the Needs of the Individual. Training will consist of but not limited to designated training’s, including confidentiality and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Volunteers will never be left alone with people supported and will never count toward meeting staffing requirements. Our trained staff must be present at all times. The volunteer will be assigned to a designated staff for coordination of volunteer service. Volunteers will not drive service recipients. Volunteers will not administer medication of any kind, whether prescription or over the counter.
Volunteers must provide each of the following documents:
Release of Information Statement
Release and Waiver of Liability
Record of TB skin test
